The Coalition for Healthy School Food at Work!

The Coalition for Healthy School Food works with public schools to introduce plant-based foods and nutrition education in schools to educate the whole school community. That means if your school wants to have a chef come in and work with the school cafeteria staff to prepare a plant-based recipe, they will! Today at PS 261 we had chef Geetha come and teach our staff how to perfect the Chickpea Tagine served on the DOE's Alternative Menu. The dish was delicious — chickpeas with diced carrots, onions and celery, simmered in tomatoes, turmeric, paprika, and cinnamon. We had parent volunteers offering tastes to timid eaters who loved it and can't wait to come back for more! Here are some fun pictures from our lunchtime tasting!
